Perla has lived all over California. She was born and raised in Orange County, went to UC Berkeley for her Bachelors, and worked in Bakersfield for her first job as a multimedia journalist. It was there that she won an Emmy for her coverage of the 2020 presidential election. She moved to Arizona for a year to work for the local ABC affiliate, but quickly returned back to her home state to work at KGTV 10 News.
Perla has also worked as a journalist off-camera. She’s written articles for the OC Register newspaper, reviewed technology at CNET, and worked as a content producer for NBC Bay Area.
Her roots are in California, but they also go back to Lebanon. Her parents were raised there and left during the Civil War, and they’ve visited every year since. Their story inspires her to tell others.
Perla believes journalism has the power to bring solace, understanding, trust, and change. She has a deep curiosity of the world around her and loves diving deep into the details of any story.
