Reporter

Mimi Elkalla joined the 10News Morning Team in the fall of 2016 and can't believe she gets to call San Diego her new home!

Before coming to San Diego, she spent two and a half years as a reporter and weekend anchor for KBAK/KBFX, the CBS and FOX affiliates in her hometown of Bakersfield, Calif.

During her time there, Mimi covered a wide variety of stories in Kern County including breaking news, investigations, crime and devastating wildfires. She found it especially rewarding to be able to share the stories of those in her community and make memorable connections with amazing people.

Before heading back home to Bakersfield, she spent four years in Fresno, where she earned her degree in Mass Communications and Journalism, with an emphasis on Broadcast Journalism at California State University, Fresno.

While in Fresno, Mimi also interned at the local NBC affiliate KSEE 24. She always had a love and passion for journalism, but as an intern she was able to see firsthand the amazing and exciting fast-paced side of TV News which made her love for it grow even more.

In her free time, Mimi enjoys exploring all the amazing sights in San Diego, meeting new people, hanging out by the beach and trying out the wide variety of restaurants around town.
