RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) — The San Diego County Medical Examiner has released the name of a man who died in an accident at a motocross track in East County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the medical examiner's report, 29-year-old BMX star Patrick Michael Casey was riding a motocross bike with friends at the Slayground Motocross Park when he lost control of it and was ejected.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department says deputies received a call around 2:45 p.m. about an unknown injury accident involving a dirt bike at the park near Sutherland Dam Road & State Route 78.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and began performing life-saving measures on Casey who was considered to be in CPR status at the time. Casey was pronounced dead at the scene.
California Highway Patrol tells ABC 10News it is not handling the investigation and SDSO is handling this as a death investigation since it does not meet the definition of a crash.
