Claudia Amezcua is an award-winning and bilingual digital journalist who has worked in several newsrooms across Los Angeles, Nebraska and Portland, Ore.
Claudia comes from KPTV FOX 12 Oregon, where she worked as a multimedia producer covering over 100 days of protests, wildfires, snow and the recent record-breaking heat in the Pacific Northwest. In San Diego, she covers race and culture, theme parks and events happening around the city.
Claudia holds an undergraduate degree in communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism from California State University, Fullerton (Go Titans!), and a master’s degree in strategic communications from the University of Oregon. She was also awarded two RTDNA Golden Mikes and two Edward R. Murrow Awards.
She is also a member of SPJ, NAHJ, and PRSA.
In her spare time, she spends her time with her husband and cat Maya exploring their new home and visiting family. Claudia enjoys learning about local history, visiting theme parks, cooking, and rooting for the Dodgers (sorry Padres fans) and the Oregon Ducks (SCODUCKS).
